How To Get a Free QR Code

Recently, I wanted to revamp my business cards. I really liked the idea of adding a QR code to my cards because personally I always dislike reading tiny font on a business card and trying to manually type in a URL… and let’s be honest, QR codes look pretty slick!

What is a QR code?

A QR code is a matrix barcode that was invented in 1994 by a Japanse automotive company. There are a number of benefits of QR codes over traditional barcodes. QR codes are particularly handy because you can read them using only the camera in your phone. If you pull out your phone, open the camera app, and point it at a QR code, the QR code will direct you to whatever website or asset it is associated with. It can also be read in any orientation- so no need to try and figure out which part is the top.

To create a custom QR code for my business cards I went to qrcode-monkey.com. They offer free QR codes that do not expire, come with unlimited scans, and work forever. You also don’t need to sign up for an account to make a custom QR code. I had my QR code created and downloaded in less than 60 seconds. (and no, this is not a sponsored post)

Here are how my business cards turned out:
